An initiative co-organised by Migrant Writers of Singapore, In This Together, PIS Nur Assyifa and Migrants Band Singapore
On 21st of January, our 22nd Blood Donation Drive was held at Blood Bank @ HSA Outram Park. The sun was up and we were blessed with a good weather! I arrived at the location around 9:30 in the morning and went straight to the staff to introduce myself and receive the forms they prepared to be filled by the blood donors.
There were first time donors who came and were gladly assisted by our volunteers. They were nervous yet excited especially when they passed the screening. Some failed due to a low haemoglobin which requires a minimum of 12.5 g/dL for women and 13 g/dL for men and some were asked to return after few months due to a recent travel.
There were more than twenty who successfully donated from the different communities. They were awarded with a small token of appreciation which was personally prepared by our volunteers to show gratitude to their kindness and generosity of responding to our initiatives.
This blood donation drive occurs quarterly with the hope of bringing more blood donors and save lives while nurturing the noble act of giving. Regular blood donations not only contribute to this life-saving cause but also promote the donor’s overall health.
We encourage everyone to join us in celebrating humanity by partaking in this journey of selfless giving. Your participation makes a significant impact and reflects the beauty of compassion.
