We distribute books directly to dormitories and public spaces frequented by migrant workers.
At our events, participants are invited to bring a book, share a paragraph from it and exchange the book for another.
We regularly organise book donation drives to collect books for distribution. We have received hundreds of books over the years thanks to the support of generous donors.
We also fundraise to enable migrant workers to explore more literature in their mother tongues. Although we receive many books in Tamil, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese and English through our book donation drives, we do not receive enough books in Bengali, Hindi, Sinhalese and other South Asian languages. Zakir and his friends have purchased over 2,000 Bengali books using their salaries but there is still a lack. The situation worsened as migrant workers were confined in their cramped dorms for months due to COVID-19. In order to fulfil these needs, charities, student groups and individuals have come forward to support the cause.
